coconuts

Does anyone know if there is a world coconut shortage?

For the last year or more......I am not sure how long it has been

I have been using coconut shampoo and conditioner. Several of my lovers commented that my hair smells of coconuts.

At one point in the early months of chatting to Romeo he was imagining that I was with him in his room. I told him that he would be able to smell coconuts.

In recent months I have had to use a different shampoo and or conditioner as my usual one was not available. But I have always been able to get it the next time. However in the last few weeks it has been missing from the shelves. I currently have half a bottle of coconut shampoo but no conditioner. When I knew I was going to be seeing Romeo I wanted to buy some coconut conditioner.

There was none in my local Asda store, none in my local Somerfields store or even in my local Lloyds chemists or even in Boots in Town. I don't just mean my normal brand but in any brand.

I can only conclude that there must be a shortage of coconuts

You've just reminded me, there's a rotting coconut behind my sofa. (kids, never fucking put things in the bin) so no, no shortage of coconuts! (Maybe you should buy some coconut oil and cover yourself in that?) ;P

Well, I always use shampoo from Morrisons- their cheapest own brand. For several years it was the green kind, supposedly containing Tea Tree oil - cross between menthol and eucalyptus - and I became attached to that, getting both shampoo and conditioner. But then the supplies of tea tree oil must have run out because they now only have coconut shampoo, which I do like better. But I have stopped using the conditioner because I can't see the point. I haven't run a brush or comb through my hair in a while - not in 2008 certainly, being content with a rugged windswept arbitrary look. But next time I go, I'll check to see if they have the conditioner too.

NB It's cheap stuff, you probably have to use twice as much as a fancy brand.

you can get the tea tree shampoo at tesco - i've seen it - it's not the value brand but it's fairly priced at some 50 or 70p for the shampoo.

as for the coconut thing - i'd like to ask trix where she buys coconut oil because i haven't seen that on the supermarket shelves!

i think the disappearance of coconut shampoo and conditioner must be a trend thing - not enough people buying the stuff and more people going for the tea tree - i have to admit i use that on the lil boys these days because it's supposed to ward off lice ...

No idea about coconuts, I am addicted to the Body Shop's honey shampoo and conditioner.

vincent there is plenty of tea tree shampoo in Asda I sed t use that for the same reason as Mei to keep the lice at bay.

dj the honey one sounds devine but I very rarely venture into town besides whatever I buy for me the boys use too even if I buy the usual cheap stuff for them to use.

to be honest I don't care what I wash my hair in. if no shampoo I would use soap as in boarding school.

Perhaps we in the US have purchased the entire supply, because I went to Costco (giant wherehouse store) and they had pallets of the stuff.

UGH coconut's! Years ago I went for a dream holiday to Sri Lanka with my sister. There they used coconuts for everything..... chips cooked in coconut oil... ugh, coconut milk in tea... ugh!
So as for using it on my body... NO!

world coconut shortage....
damn... who would have known..

it must be the Chinese... their demand for coconut shampoo is driving the supply of of coconuts down so all the nut oil is going to China instead of the West.. yeah that must be it!

;)

Percy I think you migt be right
It would seem that we have to get a lot of things from China these days and they are doing their damn hardest to hold us to ransom.

Perhaps I should sneak round to Trixie's house and grab that rogue coconut from behind her sofa. can you put dried coconut in a blender?
