my lucky views

On Monday morning I wasn't feeling well so I took myself home to bed. As I was driving towards the motorway I realised that it was still the morning rush hour so I detoured across the hill. It was a lovely sunny morning and I would have loved to stop and take some photos of the views. I always love being up there. But I was struggling to concentrate on the road so I got myself home as quickly as possible. I was tucked up in my bed by 9.15am and stayed there all day sleeping and trying to get rid of an excruciating headache that made me nauseous.

Anyway getting to the point, today we got a message at work that there had been a bad accident near to the town where I live causing huge tailbacks on the motorway. Realising that all the alternative routes would also be snarled up I decided to take myself up onto the hill and park up in one of the car parks. I chose one in the lane beside the Gladstonian Pub. Listened to the traffic news the went to sit at a picnic table where I took a few snaps of the views from the hill.

I feel so lucky that I have these views so close to my home. It was lovely sitting there in the late afternoon with the warm sun on my skin and the breeze in my hair. You can't see it so well in this photo but the sea was a lovely deep blue under a bright blue sky, with white sails on the boats so far away looking like a holiday destination of some far away place I can only dream of.

DD#2 and I like to take pics while we're out driving around, too. I enjoyed yours as I like to see other parts of the world. Pretty.

It's quite hard to capture these wide hilltop downland views but you've done a good job.

Is that the I of W in the distance? On a clear day we can see that too from the downs above us.
