DC has been seeing his lovely girlfriend Charlie for 4 1/2 years now. Charlie has recently gone off to University to do a degree in fashion. She was lucky enought o get one of just 30 coveted places at Brighton. She has only been there a couple of weeks. Yesterday she sent DC a shocking text.
Her mother (just as lovely) has got breast cancer. It is just a couple of weeks since she found the lump but already has the diagnosis.
I am proud of DC, he phoned L to tell her how sorry he is and offer his help if needed. He also asked if I would be willing to talk to her about it if she wants. Of course I would. He is showing a lot of sensitivity. I think this will probably be the time he talks to me about my cancer as at the time he avoided me as he couldn't cope (he was just 13).

fingers crossed it's treatable. i don't know about you but i hear of more and more people being diagnosed with cancerous lumps. my own sis had a small lump on her neck removed last week and we're keeping our fingers crossed for her the tests on it show it's benign
You must be so proud of him and I really hope this is the time for him to confide in you about yours..xx
*sending prayers all the way around*
Yaknow, it's taken forever for the kiddos to feel like they can talk about where we got to venture. In their own time--I'm sure you know this.
And I'm sure pleased and proud for him that he asked you to speak to the other mom.
Boy does that speak loudly....
*hugs to you*
And mei del.....I'll hope and pray for good things for your sister.
*hugs*
Good thoughts and positive energy being sent to mei del's sister and Charlie's mother.
Older children never fail to surprise you.
mel and nitebyrd i am so touched by your positive thoughts and well wishes - thank you, thank you! while playing online scrabble with my sister today she told me that it's not cancer and will tell me more after she's seen the doctor. we can only imagine her relief, the weight off her mind, the anxiety, all lifted
Mei I am glad that your sister doesn't have cancer but it must have been a worry for all of your family.
hugs
rae yes I am proud of him and have told him so
mel thank you and I know Mei appreciates your words too
nitebyrd I am sure that it was positive thought that gave me the energy to get through my own cancer so I thank you on behalf of Charlie's mum and I know Mei thanks you too.
Just goes to show you have brought him up well!
Just goes to show you have brought him up well!
Oh dear! What a well behaved young man. He will be able to give his girlfriend strength and show her there is hope because of you!
Good for him! And i do hope he does talk to you about it.
It is so difficult for our kids to talk about what happened to their mums, isn't it? The fear of what could have happened is just too tough for them to locus on for any length of time.
What a great lad x
