Cinderella is going to The Ball

Cinderella is going to the ball

OK so I am not quite Cinderella but tonight I shall be going to my one and only social event of this party season.

Some of you may be aware that it is becoming tradition for Firebyrd to invite a few select bloggers into her home before christmas.

Tonight is the night so in a little over an hour from now I shall ease myself behind the wheel of my pumpkin (small Toyota Corolla) and set off like the wind towards The Big Smoke, braving the car park known as M25. Hoping that this time I am better prepared and won't require my travelling companion to talk me into landing on the correct runway.

After a brief stop I shall be swapping my single pumpkin for a double (larger Toyota) and together your two heroines will allow themselves to be whisked away on a journey packed with chatting and giggles. Until 3 hours later we arrive at the Palace door greeted by the beautiful Pixie Queen (Firebyrd) along with the equally beautiful Queen Vixen. It is likely that the other guests will have arrived before us so it will be time for the party to begin.

My weekend with friends

Organised I am not
I checked on map quest the directions to get to Mei’s place, my printer is not connected so I wrote out the directions from M3. I bought a new map book, in the end I took a different route as in the route Mei takes when she drives home from Winchester. That was fine until I got to London and the North Circular. I rang Mei for directions from there. The funniest bit was when I was stuck behind a bus that had not quite pulled into a bus stop. Mei was telling me to turn right at the next junction.......impossible with 3 lanes of busy traffic between me and the right turn. Eventually pulling out from behind the bus with an oncoming coach blasting his horn at me, I’m telling him to go away and shut up then remember Mei and tell her I didn’t mean her. Finally she manages to direct me the right way and as I turn down the last hill there she is waving at me from the side of the road.

So that is how I managed to drive into London for the first time ever. The driving was fine it was not knowing where I was going when I got there that was my only problem. Mei made me very welcome with a refreshing cup of tea before loading up her car and setting off towards the Peak District. Mei and I managed to chat constantly for almost the whole of the drive (3 hrs). We were chatting so much that when we set off I tried to text Fire that we were on our way only I managed to send my text to Romeo by mistake. We landed at Fire’s home at about 6pm so once we had handed over the bottles we had brought with us, I changed into one of my new red skirts and the red heels. A glass of champagne thrust into our hands and we began to catch up with QV and Trousers who I had met when I visited Fire last December.

The atmosphere among the 5 of us was relaxed and cheerful. When I had arrived at Mei’s she was very nervous about meeting fellow bloggers for the first time. I hope she enjoyed meeting us, I certainly enjoyed her company, the two of us giggling like school girls quite a bit over the 26 hours we were together.

It was a lovely evening in the company of lovely people, the food, drink, chat and the tarot cards all flowed well. We all either wrote or commented on short blog posts. Having read back mine yesterday I realised how pissed I must have been when I wrote it. The weather was horrendous with the heavy rain drumming on the conservatory roof much to the delight of trousers who was looking forward to falling asleep to the sound, he had volunteered to sleep on the chaise lounge in there

Considering we went to bed after 1.30 we were all up fairly early for a gathering in the kitchen for our hot drinks followed by cooked breakfast. (something I only ever have when I am with fellow bloggers). We sat around chatting for another couple of hours before leaving at about 11ish. Mei and I dropped Trousers off at the station in Stoke and were just heading towards the M6 when we got the call from Fire.......Mei had left her trademark blue shoes behind, they could have been posted on but we turned around and went back for them. I couldn’t help noticing how many Jaguar cars there were on the motorway. At times I couldn’t help looking to see who was driving. I miss him.

The journey flew past and it wasn’t long before we were back in London. More tea and more chat then I was on my way again. The final leg of my journey went by very quickly, but as I neared home I found I was beginning to struggle with keeping my eyes open but I managed. I was tired when I got home but today I have been absolutely exhausted. It’s a good thing I had booked an extra day off, I would not have managed to work. I found myself falling asleep on and off all day and even now I am still tired. I have enjoyed the last few days surrounded by friends but I have still missed Romeo.

I hadn’t heard from him in over a week, yesterday was his birthday and I had hoped to at least hear from him. This afternoon I sent him a chatty email telling him about my week. I even told him about having Dinner with Lotto and going out with Harvey. At the end I jokingly told him that I was cross that I was having a one sided conversation with him as he had forgotten to tell me where he was and how long for. Blow me down with a feather less than an hour later he text me saying where he is and he will be there for a few days. I laughed assuming he had just read my email but he says he has no internet connection where he is.

Right I need an early night as its back to work tomorrow.

It was a pity that trixie and her sisters had to miss the party

So I arrived mid morning then after a refreshing cuppa we set off. We are now at Fire Byrd's place and several (I have not been counting) glasses of champagne later here I am.

I will catch up with you all tomorrow as right now I have to get back to my almost full glass oh and the cards

Pixie's Party

right so I am back and I need to catch up with everyone
I know you are dying to know whats been going on with me
where do I start?

right I've just checked the bullet post Vi wrote ...good thnking Vi

my weekend with Pixie, Queen Vixen and Trousers
my plan was to set off at about 1.30pm (I was going to give Vi a lift but that plan changed)
As I was getting ready to set off the BT engineer arrived so I had to stick around while he did his checks on the phone line which was dead as a dodo.
eventually I set off in bright sunlight only to find that 40 minutes up the road I was driving through torrential rain. by the time I reached the motorway it was sunny again but the light was fading fast. I got all the way to the small town where Pixie lives before I got lost having missed the first turning off the main road. Having driven around for a few minutes I found the local Co - op and called Pixie who then told me how to get to hers from where I was. Quite easy really, as I reached her house I saw this mad woman on the doorstep waving madly.

Having parked and hugged I was shown to my room. Then it was back to meet Trousers. I had seen comments of his on Pixie's and a few other blogs, I had even lurked on his blog a few times as he had on mine but we were not in contact so I was unsure how we would get on. he is lovely and even now several weeks later I can't help thinking that he reminds me of someone only I don't know who.

Pixie is just lovely. She is exactly how I imagined her to be. warm, charming, generous, witty and just lovely, her enthusiasm is infectious. Her home is wonderful, everywhere you look there are little collections. I couldn't begin to now tell you what they were as they were many and varied. Suffice to say that you could never get bored just looking around there is always something new to see.

QV arrived shortly after me. Again I had only lurked on her blog a few times and after my first ever comment she then announced that she would not be blogging anymore. I could be paranoid and think that had something to do with me but I know it wasn't. A very bubbly blonde, she swept into the room in a glorious black lace gown showing a very generous bosom (not that I have any need to be jealous).

We had a scrumptious meal all home cooked lovingly by Pixie, I know it wasn't all on the diet but I don't often get to go out and eat like this. The food was washed down by a number of bottles of bubbly (we got through almost 6 bottles between the four of us). Considering I had never met any of these people before I felt very comfortable with all of them. Pixie had rung me on friday night wondering if she should cancel as so many people had dropped out and it would now be just the four of us. having negotiated the night out and looking forward to it for 3 months I was more than happy to still go. Small gatherings are better for me anyway, being slightly deaf I find larger groups overwhelming as I can't hear everything that is going on, so I tend to sit back and watch rather than take part.

After much chatting and laughing the tarot cards came out, as did the phones. I text Neptune (with much encouragement from the others) to tell him that on my way to my weekend out I had passed the town where he lives. I asked if he wanted to meet up when I came back the next day. To my suprise he said yes. we arranged to meet in the tesco car park. while this was going on Pixie began blogging about our drunken evening, I added my bit,as did both QV and Trousers. I can't now remember who ws sat on the chair when it fell apart. But it was hilarious watching a pissed Pixie trying to put it back together again, eventually she gave up. For some reason both QV ans Trousers' parts of the blog ended up somewhere in the ether. I do remember we had some fun teasing Innocent on the blog, he text me that he could see we were having fun.

We finally fell into our beds at around 3am or at least most of us did. In the morning (was it only 5 hrs later) we were all in the kitchen drinking tea or in Pixie's case hot water, when she told us that not only had she gone for a walk after we went to bed but she also did another blog.
after a cooked breakfast QV set off home and I left not long after just as Pixie and trousers were about to embark on a late morning stroll. I would have joined them if I hadn't arranged to meet up with Neptune.
